Semester in Review

It is hard to believe, but the fall 2014 semester at CI has come to a close.  It has been a busy one for the Teaching and Learning Innovations team. As we close down this semester and begin preparing for the next, I’d like to take a few minutes to share a few highlights from our semester.

  • We opened the Faculty Innovations in Teaching Studio and had over 100 different faculty visit. There have been 250+ visits from faculty, staff and guests. In addition to tours and drop-in visits, we have hosted workshops, interviews, discussion series, and endless one-on-one support sessions in the studio.
  • The second semester of the Online Teaching Preparation Program wrapped up last month. We now have 17 faculty alum for this dynamic program and an additional 9 faculty have completed at least one of the three courses in the program.  All faculty reported that “the courses were worth their time or extremely worth their time“.
  • The first Enhancing Teaching and Learning Program was a success. 10 faculty joined together to examine how digital tools can be used to increase student engagement in face-2-face courses. The final analysis of outcomes are rolling in and the results are astounding.  Our students are lucky to have such innovative educators at CI.
  • We also launched CI Keys and now have over 200 students and faculty have created their own unique domains. They are all busy  busy learning about new open source internet tools and improving their digital literacy. Altogether, this group of innovative students and educators have created over 1000 blog posts.
