Writing Retreat application

Dear Faculty Colleagues:
On behalf of the Faculty Development Advisory Committee, it gives us great pleasure to announce the return of the annual faculty writing retreat at La Casa de Maria in Santa Barbara, scheduled from the afternoon of June 1 through the morning of June 3. We have reserved 19 single occupancy rooms. Mary Adler will serve as the on-site coordinator.
The purpose of the retreat is to re-charge your writing in a serene setting; to continue to work on projects in process; and/or to kick-start summer research, scholarship, and creative activities.
Participants should be prepared to travel up to the Santa Barbara location in time to check in by 5 PM on Wednesday, June 1, checking out around 10am on Friday, June 3. Dinner will be served on Wednesday evening; breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided on Thursday, and breakfast will be provided on Friday. Guests may request vegetarian or vegan meals in advance. We will cover the cost of the lodging and food.
La Casa de Maria Retreat and Conference Center is a lovely meditative retreat in the hills near Montecito. Massage therapy by both female and male Certified Massage Therapists is available at La Casa by appointment. The fee is $75 for one hour and $110 for an hour and a half. The retreat itself is intended to provide quiet time for faculty members to write without interruption as well as optional time for sharing and responding to writing.
Please apply for this opportunity by Monday, April 11, at 5pm. We ask that you fill out an online application for review. Full link: https://csuci.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9TAWA4dzfhkWSVL.
Spots at the retreat are competitive and we often have a waiting list. Due to space limitations, we are sending the first call to all full time faculty; if space permits, a second call will be sent to part time faculty. Please note that the application requests a summary of a project you plan to bring as well as a brief (250-word) attachment describing your writing goals for the retreat.
Those accepted to the writing retreat will be notified by the end of April.

Sincerely,
