A series of popular workshops from ISLAS academy will be offered spring semester. Topics will include:
  • February 19, Active Learning Classroom Strategies, 9-11:30, FIT Studio (Solano Hall 1201) Share ideas to best engage students and promote their active learning, and learn to incorporate active learning “high-impact practices” into your everyday teaching. Leave with strategies for redesigning the way you teach a challenging concept or topic and expand your repertoire of strategies to promote students’ active engagement in learning.

  • March 18, Sustainable Information Literacy: Facilitating the Information Literate Classroom, 9-11:30, Broome 1756How can faculty help first-generation and underrepresented students achieve greater information literacy? This workshop is an opportunity for faculty to work with librarians to learn how to incorporate information literacy practices into their courses. NOTE: This is a hands-on session. Please bring your course syllabus and research assignments with you.

  • April 15, Writing Across the UDIGE Curriculum, 9-11, FIT Studio (Solano Hall 1201) 
    Do you teach a UDIGE course? Wondering what “writing intensive” means, and how to incorporate it into your class? Come to this workshop to learn how we use writing in UDIGE contexts. Take away ideas for how to integrate and assess writing instruction while also supporting content.
