PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Implements, supports, develops and facilitates faculty development efforts focused on improving student learning at CSU Channel Islands. Works with the Teaching & Learning Innovations team to cultivate a vision of innovation in teaching and learning at CI.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Work independently to design and facilitate faculty development workshops, programs, and provide ongoing support. Consult with academic programs interested in course and program redesign. Collaborate with faculty in person and via social media, email, blogs, and video conferencing to develop ideas for improving instruction. Provides technical and design support to faculty in the use of academic technology and related initiatives such as: LMS (CI Learn/Blackboard), Domains Project (CI Keys), e-portfolios, and Open Educational Resources (OER). Assists in maintaining current technologies and support systems in the Faculty Innovations in Teaching (FIT) Studio. Will research emerging technologies and effective practices for instruction and apply those practices in faculty development offerings and during individual consultations with faculty. Propose and manage pilot programs of emerging technologies. Will develop and lead efforts to improve the use of affordable course materials and Open Educational Resources (OER).

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Bachelor’s degree in any academic discipline is required. Advanced degree highly desirable. Must have a growing vision of the role of information technology services in higher education. Teaching experience with expertise in online and blended learning required. Knowledge of a wide range of technologies commonly used in education (VoiceThread, Google Docs, WordPress) and an understanding of Learning Management Systems a plus. Evidence of the ability to envision innovative programs and products, and to implement these programs and products on a university campus is highly desirable. Experience with Open Education Resources and Universal Design for Learning as it relates to educational technology is desired.
