Curation is a way for students to collect, organize and synthesize information. It provides a means for students to explore the massive amounts of information on the web and organize ideas around a topic. Using online tools students can begin to collect information on a topic in an engaging format. With explicit instructions on what to do with these resources, they can be guided through the process of identifying information that is not valid, timelines for events, multiple points of view on a given topic, etc. Below is a video series by Dax Jacobson talking about how he uses ScoopIt to have his students curate news items in his courses.
